How to change photo in Aadhaar Card

Aadhar Card Photo Change: It is often seen that the worse the photo looks on Voter ID and Aadhar Card, the person is not that bad. As you know, UIDAI earlier used to provide online facility to update name, address, mobile number as well as photograph in Aadhar card, but now online process is available only for change of address. For other changes like change in name, mobile number, date of birth, e-mail address and photograph, you will have to follow the offline process.

To get the photo changed, either you will have to go to your nearest Aadhaar card making enrollment center or you will have to apply through post.

UIDAI has adopted the offline method from the beginning to change the photo of the Aadhaar holder. I want to tell you that offline method is the only way by which you can get your new photo in Aadhar card. This is the genuine method to change the profile picture of Aadhar card.

How to change photo in Aadhaar Card?

  • Download the Aadhaar Enrollment/Update Form by going to the Get Aadhaar section on the official website of UIDAI.
  • Fill the form correctly and submit it at the Aadhaar Enrollment Center.
  • Your fingerprints, retina scan and photograph will be re-captured at the enrollment centre.
  • To update your Aadhaar details, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50.
  • As soon as the application for updating the photo is accepted, you will receive a URN or Update Request Number.
  • Through this number you can track your application online.
  • You will get a new Aadhar card with updated photo in about 90 days.

If you do not want to go to Aadhar Seva Kendra then…

  • You can get your Aadhar card corrected or updated by writing to the regional office of UIDAI.
  • Go to the UIDAI portal and download the ‘Aadhaar Card Update Correction’ form from there.
  • Now fill all the information asked in this form.
  • After filling, write a letter to the regional office of UIDAI to update the Aadhar card.
  • Attach your self attested photo (by signing) with its letter.
  • Post both the form and the letter to the UIDAI office.
  • Within two weeks, you will get a new Aadhar card with a new photograph.
