In the future most of our electronic equipment at home in the kitchen, along with our personal tech devices will be interfaced. Your iPad will be your cellular phone, your TV, your home energy smart grid meter, and it will interface with your car.
Now then, since I’ve been involved in the auto industry, I’d like to explain to you why we need our tablets and iPads to be interfaced with our cars moving forward. If your car needs an oil change, or has required service, or even a recall there’s no reason that information should not immediately appear on your iPad.
The information can be downloaded one way from the satellite to all the cars of that type, and that will be relayed to your tablet or iPad. Your iPad should also be able to be a real time streaming GPS unit that you can hook in a cradle when you get into your car.
When your car needs gas, the map on your GPS auto interface will list all the gas stations nearby. Why not? It’s not as if we don’t have the technology now. The only reason this doesn’t exist is because there are so many different kinds of systems, and proprietary software.
The consumer would love to have these kinds of things, and we should create them. If we are going to sell cars for upwards of $50,000 for the luxury models, they should be able to do just about everything. And why not – we have the technology?
Your iPad could also be your alarm system for your car, and you should be able to turn the radio on from the Starbucks patio, honk the horn, unlock the doors, adjust the seat just for you, or a number of other things. There’s no reason this doesn’t exist yet, we have all the technology now, and the consumers want it. Please consider all this.
